So I am a huge Buffy fan, and there is this one scene in the episode ‘Checkpoint’ where Buffy’s history prof makes fun of her for asking questions, says that studying history is about ‘what actually happened’ as if it is possible to know that with certainty, and basically shoots down the idea that it is important to consider different viewpoints. I swear, every time I watch it, I just want to jump in and explain to him the concept of revisionism and the importance of academic debate.

A girl asked me why not just go to film school but I like to think of films as a text and should be studied like so. Luckily, my school added a film studies track to the English major.
